Ways We Help

Furthering our cause is the most important goal of our organization. We seek to support, empower, and provide high quality resources to the Dade City community. Our success isn’t measured in terms of wealth or profit margin, but by the value we provide to those we serve. Learn more about what we do below.

Programs

Agricultural Women involved in New Goals (AWING)

This program is the foundation of the organization, AWING focuses on developing the community's women through education, advocacy, services, and organizing skills. AWING frames and leads most of the organizing efforts, runs the clinic, social service programs, and works closely with the youth programs. AWING also leads the farmworker Christmas program each year.

Social Services

We are able to cover a wide variety of needs such as immigration, advocacy, and translation. This branch also runs our thrift store and food bank. We are devoted to helping vulnerable people and communities work through the challenges they face in everyday life.

La Casa de Esperanza y Salud

La Casa de Esperanza ySalud (The House of Hope and Health) offers medical information and health screenings to the community through outreach services and health fairs that we host several times each year. In the very near future, we will offer mental health counseling to those in our farmworker community that are in need.

Teen Dream Team (TDT)

TDT works with the youth and the school system to reduce referrals, suspensions, and expulsions all the while increasing grades and graduation rates. We also teach the youth organizing skills and work on issues affecting their lives. The youth engage in writing, drawing, painting, and performing arts. Several of our youth are involved in our music program, we also have our Folklorico Dance Troupe, Las Mariposas.

Norma Godinez Arts & Education Center

Our Norma Godinez Learning Center has a new name and a somewhat new purpose. While we are still teaching English here, the cultural arts are an important part of what we do with the youth. Through our Tomytown Arts Initiative, we are teaching music & voice as well as digital audio & video production. TDT drama troupe, The Dreamer's Teatro Crew, is also housed here. The youth write, produce and perform short dramatic plays that tell their stories from their perspective.

Micro-Enterprise Development

We work with community members, particularly farmworkers to develop successful business ventures. To date, we have assisted with the opening of several businesses as well as housing one in our own thrift store. We are currently exploring other opportunities as well as possible business ventures for our youth in hopes of preparing them for the world that awaits them.
